Recently, the 2024 National Academic Conference on Endoscopic Neurosurgery was held in Chongqing, where experts in the field of endoscopic neurosurgery from all over the country gathered together to discuss the hot and difficult issues of endoscopic neurosurgery, display innovative technologies and share valuable experience around the theme of “Innovation and Leadership” of this conference. The team of neurosurgery experts from the First Affiliated Hospital of Heavy Medicine participated in the conference and made wonderful speeches and academic reports, which fully demonstrated the academic style of the neurosurgery department of the hospital in the field of neuroendoscopy.
Prof. Tang Wenyuan, the old director of neurosurgery department of the First Affiliated Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, was invited to be the host of the conference. As the winner of China Neurosurgeon Lifetime Honor Award, Prof. Tang Wenyuan, with solid theoretical knowledge and rich clinical diagnosis and treatment experience, made professional and pertinent comments on the experts' reports, which opened up the participants' vision and enlightened their thinking.
In the special meeting on “Intelligent Technology in Internal Diameter Skull Base Surgery”, Prof. Yang Gang, Chairman of the Theological Surgery Specialized Committee of Chongqing Municipal Medical Association, former head of the Neuroendoscopy Group of Theological Surgery Physicians Branch of Chongqing Municipal Medical Doctors Association, and Director of the Department of Neurosurgery of the First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqin University of Medical Science and Technology, presided over the meeting and made special speeches. Prof. Yang Gang is the first one to create “In Situ Bone Flap” in the world, which solves the worldwide problem of abandoning in situ bone reconstruction of the skull base. He discussed the application of In Situ Bone Flap technique in skull base reconstruction and shared his unique insights in transsphenoidal endoscopic skull base reconstruction, demonstrating the importance of anatomical and functional repositioning in neurosurgery, and providing valuable clinical experience for the participants.
